Hopefully everyone knows that rent is a priority. If you fall behind...
Determined to master some marvellous money-saving habits this year? Freebie finding might be for you.
Our pal Alex from Magic Freebies popped by the blog to share some top tips…
There are no two ways about it: saving money can be a chore. Whether you’re saving up for something special or want to put money aside for an emergency, obsessively watching the pennies can take the joy out of your everyday.
Freebies are a great way to try out new products, get surprise deliveries and save money on essentials. Getting stuff for free might sound too good to be true, however it’s 100% legit and lots of people are getting in on the action.
Thinking of giving it a go? Let’s address some questions you might have first…
Giving away freebies are a great way for a brand to get word of their product out to potential customers. By allowing you to ‘try before you buy’ companies hope that if you like the product, there’s a better chance you’ll purchase it in the future.
It’s a ‘dog eat dog’ world out there guys, and the reality is that companies want to make sure you buy their product over someone else’s. They’ll take the ‘loss’ of giving a sample away if it means a better chance of securing you as a customer or taking your attention off a rival brand.
Even if you try the product and it’s not for you, chances are you’ll tell someone you tried it, which is called ‘word of mouth’ marketing. You might tell a friend in passing, write a review, or tweet about it using a special hashtag that the company uses to promote their products. It all counts as promotion. Customers are bombarded with so much advertising ‘noise’ these days, and your word of mouth marketing helps them cut through it to even more customers.
Everything and anything. Freebies vary far and wide, from free food to makeup samples, pet items, books, things for the home and everything in between.
For me, I’ve found the free beauty products and makeup samples the most useful. It’s quick and easy to build up a sizeable collection that allows you to try out new brands and products you might not have heard of before, or be able to afford. I haven’t had to buy perfume for 6 months thanks to all the perfume samples I receive!
Beauty freebies are also perfect for travelling or going on holiday. Small sachets and bottles take up far less room than full-sized products meaning you don’t have to compromise on which products make the cut.
There are a number of trustworthy freebie websites about, so why not start with ours?
Magic Freebies UK has been around since 1996 and is the UK’s most popular freebie website. There are freebies, competitions, money-saving tips and lots more to help you save money and have fun at the same time.
First things first, sign up for the Magic Freebies newsletter. You’ll receive an email every day with 8 new freebies for you to apply for.
The method of getting free stuff varies for each freebie, but these are the most common ways:
Freebies are often given away on a first-come, first served basis so you have to be quick and apply for a freebie as soon as you spot it. All that’s normally required is your name and postal details, and the freebie will be popped in the post.
Cashback apps are a relatively new phenomenon but are a firm favourite at Magic Freebies. Purchase the qualifying item, upload a photo of your receipt and receive 100% of your cash back. They’re particularly useful for your food shop, as you can pick up great deals, discounts and food freebies.
Sadly, there are scammers out there looking to take advantage of your desire for a freebie. Make sure you read Moneymagpie’s guide on how to protect yourself from dodgy freebie websites.
Freebies can take up to 6 weeks to arrive, so don’t be disheartened if it takes a while for your free stuff to start arriving. Freebies aren’t always guaranteed (for example, if a company has a set number of samples to give away), so don’t expect to get everything you apply for.
It’s recommended that you set up a secondary email address to apply for freebies with. That way, you stop your primary account getting filled with unwanted junk emails.
With a bit of dedication, you should start to see freebies rolling through your letter box on a regular basis. Magic Freebies does the hard work in finding you all the latest freebies, so all you need to do is check the site and get applying!
