Don’t let your friend suffer in silence any longer.

You’ve known for a while now that someone you care about is going through a rough patch with money.

Their face is constantly tight with worry and there’s a stack of bills on their side table. You can’t have a five-minute conversation without their phone ringing, and every time it does they let out a world-weary sigh.

There could be a whole host of reasons why they’re struggling, some you may not even be aware of. Maybe they recently had their hours cut at work, or their partner walked out. Perhaps their household expenses have been creeping up in price over time (you no doubt know yourself how expensive things are these days). You want to help but don’t know how.

Lets help more people take control of debt than ever

Personal debt is an issue for millions, but in no month is the stress of debt more acutely felt than in January. Many people are feeling broke after the festive season, and may have opted to put off seeking debt advice until now.

It’s estimated that some 2.9 million people urgently need debt advice*. The trouble is that many don’t know where to start.

On Monday we launch our second annual Debt Awareness Week, where we highlight the issue and encourage people to get free debt advice. We want to help more people take control of their debt than ever before.

Hip hip hooray for our Trish!

Leeds debt advisor Patricia Cassidy beat off tough competition to be crowned Debt Counsellor of the Year at the Credit Today Awards 2013

Patricia was there in person to collect her award at last night’s ceremony held at the plush Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

A panel of experts voted that she most consistently gave top notch debt advice, sympathetically dealt with difficult cases and worked to promote debt issues internally.

Competition was tough in a category with seven other nominees, including advisors from Baines & Ernst, ClearDebt, Christians Against Poverty and Debt Advisory Line.

But our girl won through and was rewarded for her tireless daily work helping people out of debt.
